Sailing into Serenity: Philip's Pacific Passion Unveiled

Dear Pacific Passion community,

In this blog entry, we won't delve into the complexities of the past period; instead, we're eager to share the magnetic allure that the Pacific Passion project holds for Philip and the profound connection he's found while sailing the seas.

Philip, with a 42-year long career filled with globetrotting adventures, both professional and personal, has collected a wealth of experiences. He's traversed the world at an astonishing pace, logging up to 400,000 kilometres annually, working tirelessly and meeting people from all walks of life. This fast-paced life, lived at 200 km per hour, encapsulated Philip in a bubble where almost every sense was attuned to the demands of his work and surroundings, an existence he cherished and would repeat without hesitation - all made possible by the unwavering support of his family.

Now, however, the tempo has changed. Philip, aboard a spacious 90-square-meter boat, moves at an average speed of 15 km per hour, surrounded by loved ones. The once bustling bubble has morphed into a cocoon, offering a slower, more intimate perspective with horizons in every direction. Life aboard is guided by the sun, waking up 15 minutes before sunrise and retiring about two hours after sunset. The rhythm of life at sea allows for a rejuvenating 8 to 10 hours of rest—a significant shift from the 6 hours in Philip's previous 42 years.

Staring at the horizons, especially during the tranquil sunrise, induces a meditative state, unlocking the mind to rethink priorities in life. The stars, moon, and planets become the third dimension - the celestial horizon. Gazing at them, learning their names and positions, brings excitement, especially when a shooting star streaks across the sky.

Adding to this enchantment are scuba dives, each revealing a new facet of the underwater world. Despite differences in location, visibility, depth, and current, every dive is a unique discovery. It underscores the importance of the seas and emphasizes why their preservation is crucial.

Since retirement, Philip has dedicated himself to a profound purpose: delving into aspects of the ocean, particularly the Pacific Ocean, a vast habitat teeming with the tiniest creatures and the largest mammals. It's a biotope that demands protection at all costs. This forms the core of the Pacific Passion project for the next four years and beyond - a gift to future generations, a legacy for his grandkids and their children.

This is why Philip sails, and this is why he shares his journey with you.

Yet, such a mission wouldn’t be possible without the steadfast support of Captain Joe and his dedicated crew – Cherilyn, Gerald and Glen. They handle the daily chores, ensure safe sailing of the vessel, and attend to the well-being of the guests. Soon, they’ll evolve into assistant scientists, furthering the project’s research endeavors...

We express our heartfelt gratitude for taking a moment to read our entries. We hope they resonate with you, inspire greater good, and kindle a passion for preserving our oceans.

Contemplation of the World has no value but is a priceless gift.
